Hire & Sales sites: Opening Policy
In response to the government instruction, with effect from 24 March 2020 both our Sales Centre and Hire Centre are closed to all customers. We do not know for how long this will be be necessary and so this page will be updated once the shutdown rules start to be relaxed.
There are expected to be no staff on site whilst we are closed apart from the possibility of selected staff working in isolation and so we will not be generally be able to answer telephone queries. However, we shall be monitoring all emails as a priority and telephone messages from our answerphone as a secondary method of contact.
Caravan Hire for accommodation
If you need assistance with caravan hire for self-isolation for workers or vulnerable family members who need to stay on your site then please do leave us a email us at email@example.com with your contact number and we shall call you back to discuss how we may assist you.
We are providing caravans at special discounted rates for such customers in order we may assist as many people as possible. We have been advised this is deemed as allowed travel under the current restrictions.
Prebooked service clients
Please do not bring your caravan to us for servicing, warranty or repair works until we reopen. We have emailed or called all clients who have work booked before 15 April 2020 and we shall be in touch with clients due after this date in due course to organise rebooking your work and advising on manufacturer warranty extensions and such matters.
Relaxation of hire cancellation policy in response to COVID-19
As coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to have an impact on all of us in the UK, travel arrangements to much of the world are uncertain and likely to be so for the foreseeable future. This may lead to an increase in demand for UK ‘staycation’ holidays but uncertainty as to what the next couple of months will bring will remain in all of our minds.
In order to reassure clients for our touring caravan hire services, whether it be for a replacement family beach holiday or a get-away-from-it break to a quiet campsite, Tilshead Caravans have relaxed our usual cancellation policy to give clients greater flexibility and peace of mind:
For all New Reservations made from 18 March 2020:
Any caravan hire reservation you make from 18 March that is booked to start on any date in March, April, May or June 2020 can be changed or cancelled at no charge up to 24 hours before your scheduled arrival/collection. We shall review this policy for July & August in due course.
In the event of cancellation of such a booking, all costs paid by the Hirer will be refundable in full with no deduction of any fees or charges.
If a change of dates is preferred then this will be accommodated (subject to availability) without any fees or charges. Any rearranged hire will be charged at our usual rates.
Prebooked caravan hires for the summer
We have contacted the majority of clients who are due to hire caravans from us during April and early May, especially those travelling to events which have now been cancelled. At this stage how long the shutdown will last is unknown and so we shall be in touch with all our other clients approximately a month before they are due to hire from us. This gives everyone time to see what develops over the next few weeks and months.
New & Used caravan sales
We cannot take orders for new or used caravans whilst we are closed, but we are aware that there may be a pent up demand once the shutdown passes and the country starts to get back to normal. New caravan production has been cut by both the Swift Group and Coachman Caravans as their manufacturing facilities are currently closed. This will not affect orders already confirmed by ourselves to our clients (although actual collection/handover dates will need to change if the lockdown in still in force) but may affect availability for new caravan orders.

Awning availability has already been disrupted because of production and transport delays overseas and so supply of new awnings may not be as straightforward as normal in the summer. Should you wish to reserve one of our awning packages before we reopen, in order to be at the front of any queue which may build up, then please contact us by email and we can quote, discuss and reserve for you as necessary.
