Caravan Hire - How it Works

Choose your caravan and hire dates

  • Read through the website and decide which model of caravan would be most suitable for your needs.  

  • Decide on your preferred dates for your hire. If you wish to visit a particular event or do not wish to collect your caravan yourself then check our delivery & collection page for ideas, costs and event information.

  • Hires usually commence on your preferred weekday with the exception of Bank Holidays. Usual commencement time is 4.00pm. Earlier collection may be possible, subject to caravan availability.

  • Hires can end on any day of the week excluding Sundays and Bank Holidays and vehicles should be returned to our site by Noon on the agreed day. In the event that Tilshead Caravans are collecting the caravan then the end of hire would usually be at 10.00am as this allows us time to return the caravan to our site ready for the next hirer.

  • Decide on any optional accessories required. These are not essential but often greatly add to the enjoyment of your caravan hire or holiday.

  • Calculate the hire costs in conjunction with our hire rates page or by contacting our office by email or on Tel. 01980 86 36 36.  

 

Book your caravan

  • We recommend contacting us on Tel. 01980 86 36 36 to reserve a vehicle as we can then confirm actual availability and assist with any questions you may have. Alternatively use our online booking request facility and we shall contact you by return.

  • To reserve a caravan a deposit of £250.00 is required. We can accept payment of this sum by most credit/debit cards, by telephone or written instruction. Payment may also be made by Bank Transfer/Online Banking (BACS/Faster Payment) but please be aware that the deposit must be received before any reservation can be considered as confirmed.

  • A full written confirmation will be mailed or emailed to you by Tilshead Caravans. Please check this carefully to ensure we have met your exact requirements.This confirmation may be sent with a booking form, for completion by the Hirer.

  • If we need a Booking Form for your hire it is important that this is completed and returned to us as soon as possible in order we may ensure insurance can be arranged and to prevent the possibility of difficulties later. 

 

Pay the hire charge balance when due

  • The full hire charges are due for payment 28 days prior to the commencement of hire and we can accept payment by most credit/debit cards, by cheque drawn on a UK bank or by bank transfer (BACS/Faster payment). We would usually send you a reminder shortly before the due date.

  • The deposit of £250.00 you have already paid now acts as a damage deposit and is fully refundable shortly after the end of the hire provided your hire caravan and contents are returned clean, undamaged and on time.

  • If a reservation is made less than 28 days before the commencement of the hire then both hire charges and deposit will be required at the time of booking.

  • A full written confirmation will be mailed or emailed to you by Tilshead Caravans. 

 

Collect your caravan

  • On the day of collection please arrive at our Lopcombe site at the time specified on your confirmation unless an alternative time has subsequently been mutually agreed. Please allow for up to one hour to be spent with us.

  • You will need to produce the following original documentation on collection:-

  1. Full driving licence plus DVLA licence check code (see our FAQ) showing your current residential address.

  2. Motor insurance certificate for your towcar.

  3. Proof of address, such as utility bill or bank statement, dated within the past three months.

  4. If you need a rear number plate then we require documentation as laid down by government legislation. See our number plate FAQ for details.

  • You will then be shown around your caravan by a member of our team in order you are fully aware of how the equipment operates. This demonstration can be tailored to your needs, so do not worry if you are either an old hand at caravanning or if this is the first time you have ever towed or used a caravan.

 

or for caravans to be delivered by Tilshead Caravans

  • On the commencement of hire date we shall ensure the caravan has been delivered to your chosen location by the time stated on your confirmation. Arrangements for key collection do vary depending on the circumstances and these arrangements will be outlined and agreed with you prior to caravan delivery.

 

After your hire

  • If towing, please return the caravan to our Lopcombe site (see map) prior to the time specified on your confirmation, as late return of your caravan may cause difficulties for the next hirer.

  • For caravans to be collected by Tilshead Caravans, arrangements for key collection will again vary depending on the circumstances of the hire.

  • We do ask you to return the caravan in a clean and tidy manner internally and to remove all personal belongings.

  • A member of our team will then check around the caravan with you and ensure you are fully satisfied before you leave the site.

  • Your damage deposit of £250.00 will be refunded back to you in the manner in which it was first paid, within ten days of the end of hire, after cleaning and checking of the caravan. We regret we cannot undertake refunds on the day of vehicle return. A full refund confirmation plus VAT invoice for the complete hire will be sent to you by mail or email.
